Over the past few years there’s been a big increase in the amount of people that are making improvements to their homes and staying put rather than purchasing a new home. This isn’t surprising considering the current state of the economy. There’s no doubt that home improvements can add significant value to your property, and for those that choose to stay put rather than putting the house on the market, home improvements can greatly improve the look of your home and provide you with a tremendous amount of satisfaction. Home improvements don’t have to be expensive and time consuming. There are several projects you can undertake that don’t take up a lot of time and resources:

  • Bathrooms – There are some inexpensive improvements you can make to change the look and feel of your bathroom. Replacing a sink or faucet can give your bathroom a whole new look. Even simple things such as adding new hardware to your cabinets or installing a new shower head can provide your bathroom with a different appearance and you won’t have to spend a lot of time or money.
  • Light Fixtures – Check your house for old or worn out ceiling fans and light fixtures. Literally thousands of styles exist and this can be an inexpensive improvement as well, depending on which fixtures you choose.
  • Door Knobs – A lot of older homes have door knobs that are worn, rusted or just plain ugly. Replacing the knobs is a great way to achieve an updated look. Not only are new door knobs visually appealing, they are also really inexpensive.
  • Home Accents – Accents such as new trim or crown molding can really help to accessorize a room and won’t break the bank or take up a lot of your time.

The improvements listed above are a great way for homeowners to spruce up their homes without taking up too much time or resources. Most of these projects can be completed over the weekend. Or, if you’re like me and don’t have much time on the weekends, you can always hire a licensed handyman that can provide you with a free estimate.
